At the Digital Art Showcase, as part of the HYBRID Biennale 2026, WIR GESTALTEN DRESDEN brings together local digital artists with international perspectives.

In a compact mini-exhibition format, Dresden-based creatives will present their latest works and projects. On display will be digital art in all its forms: from generative and AI-driven projects to audiovisual works and interactive installations.

The showcase creates space for discussion, networking and new collaborations. Together with WIR GESTALTEN DRESDEN, a platform is being created for the local creative scene, their work and exchange with artists and institutions from the international biennale network.

Katerina Belkina (born in 1974 in Samara, Russia) combines photography and painting to create mysterious visual worlds. She studied art and photography in her hometown and exhibits internationally. In 2007, she was nominated for the Kandinsky Prize; in 2015, she received the International Lucas Cranach Prize; and in 2016, she received the Hasselblad Masters Award. She lives and works in Dresden.

What If The Machines...?
(Generative Sound Installation)

Oliver Hartmann produces electronic music and runs the label Etui Records. His installation for modular synthesizers, “What If The Machines...?”, explores the relationship between algorithmic structures and autonomous sound generation, while questioning the role of the composer in a world where machines become performers.

(Interactive Sound Installation)

HTW design student Marie Eichler explores co-creation as a fleeting, multisensory experience: Touch on contact surfaces is translated into vibrations that cause a water basin to resonate. The interplay of touch and water movement gives rise to constantly changing patterns. Each interaction creates a unique, ephemeral image that can never be exactly replicated.

(Facial Expression-Controlled Visualization)

Minh Nguyet Pham translates HTW research on recognizing emotional cues into an interactive visual experiment: Human facial expressions control the movement, color, and shape of digital dots, which react immediately to the other person’s expression. The work explores how intuitive interactions can support communication and the development of empathetic assistance systems.

ASCII-Drucker
(Generative Print Installation)

JeongHo Park, a faculty member in the Department of Design at HTW Dresden, combines office technology with ASCII art. A microcontroller, electrically connected to a typewriter, combines pre-programmed verses to create new poems. Each poem is accompanied by its own abstract image. As he writes, he discards words, crosses them out, and thus feels his way toward a direction that appeals to him.

(Interactive Video Installation)

“It’s not always easy to endure. Sometimes it’s loud, garish, and overmodulated. If you tune out the unpleasant parts, you also lose the colors.” Johann Frenzel works with emotions, obsolete video technology, and analog video feedback. Technical glitches, feedback, and coincidences are not corrected but become part of the artistic work.
