HYBRID Biennale 2026

Following the “Building Bridges” international conference in early September, which brought together numerous academic institutions and researchers in HELLERAU to discuss the topic of energy, special editions of the HYBRID Biennale are planned for early October and early November. Based in HELLERAU, and thus right in the heart of “Silicon Saxony”, HYBRID establishes an international and experimental platform for exploring and presenting current and future intersections between art and technology, thereby fostering innovative networks and new forms and spaces of creativity.

In 2026, the HYBRID Biennale program will feature, in addition to large-scale, immersive concerts by artists such as Guillaume Coutu Dumont & Line Katcho, Max Cooper, Grand River & Abul Mogard, and Myriam Bleau; interactive and immersive VR installations such as “Voooooo—Peeeeee—” by Ubac Studio from Korea and “Katábasis” by Ugo Arsac, which won the Palme d’Or at Cannes in 2026. In 2026, there will be a special focus on projects from Taiwan: NAXS Studio will present “Dark Room,” an intimate project as a work-in-progress; Meuko! Meuko! will celebrate the European premiere of their latest album in an audiovisual concert.

At an opening event on October 7, institutions such as the Academy for Digitality and Theater in Dortmund, C-LAB Taiwan, the Academy for Applied Futures in Oberlichtenau, and FABMOBIL will be presented through keynotes, talks, and showcases. The event will thus deliberately focus on current artistic projects and dynamically growing networks of innovative institutions and project developers at the intersections of art, research, and technology.

Additional networking and showcase events are planned in cooperation with WIR GESTALTEN DRESDEN, Silicon Saxony, and the Dresden AI Network. After celebrating the opening of the DAVE Festival in November with a special concert at HELLERAU, we’d like to recommend a trip to our audience to wrap up the HYBRID Biennale: to the LIQUID SOUND FESTIVAL at the Toskana Therme in Bad Schandau.
