“GEO LOCAL” is a series of performances that connects a dancer’s physical archive with the memory of a theater and the floor beneath it. Dominique Mercy, who can look back on decades of experience as a dancer with Pina Bausch, brings his story to a new stage. Through movement, live video and a geophone, the performance explores how bodies, buildings and landscapes intersect, thereby uncovering forgotten layers of history.
“GEO LOCAL” asks: What story does the ground beneath our feet tell? How can a dancer’s repertoire connect with the history of a place? And how can the idea of “geological time” transform our relationship with the present and the future?
Biography
Temporary Collective is a performance-making group formed by dancer Tereza Ondrová and theatre director Petra Tejnorová. As a duo, we bring together creatives from various disciplines to make performances and encounters with the public. Our process grows from dialogue and from whatever challenges us; recent work explores sustainability, loss and geographical narrative, with humour and heart. We are temporary because we hold no fixed beliefs, welcoming change, reinvention and the unknown. Not tied to a permanent space or theatre building, we build our identity on diverse relations, locations and team structures, from long-term projects to short series of actions. Collaborators include Monica Gillette, Sodja Lotker, Markéta Perroud, Daniela Řeháková, Mariana Pecháčková and others.
