Workshop for the double bill “Down the Road”, featuring works by Cyril Baldy and William Forsythe
Experience and discover the joy of dance! In this workshop, we’ll teach you various fundamentals of contemporary dance. The starting point for our journey of dance and artistic discovery is the company’s productions. We’ll delve into the respective movement languages, musical worlds and choreographies of the participating artists. The workshops invite you to explore these elements, connect with one another, try things out and discover a new movement language. We welcome all participants aged 14 and over and cater for different levels of prior experience and physical abilities.
In this workshop, two choreographic styles come together, both of which emerge from improvisational processes yet culminate in precisely structured choreographies. Drawing on the two works from the double bill “Down the Road” – “Body Me” by Cyril Baldy and “N.N.N.N.” by William Forsythe – participants will experience different approaches to movement, reaction and composition: Baldy’s work views the body in interaction with others as the starting point for choreographic processes, whilst Forsythe develops complex movement structures from improvised material. The workshop offers insights into the working methods of both choreographers and explores the tension between improvisation and choreographic order.
